The role of quality enhancement mechanisms is crucial in the development of modern institutions. In 2005,
the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan established the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) to facilitate
the establishment and functioning of Quality Enhancement Cells (QECs) in all higher education institutions
(HEIs) across the country. The primary objective was to promote, enhance and ensure the quality of higher
education.
In line with this commitment, the University of Kotli Azad Jammu and Kashmir established its Quality
Enhancement Cell in December 2015. The QEC's purpose is to fulfill the university's pledge of providing
affordable and high-quality education. The QEC diligently works to implement the policies and internal
quality assurance criteria recommended by the National Quality Assurance Committee. This includes
conducting institutional performance evaluations, developing implementation plans, facilitating postgraduate
program reviews, organizing teacher training and development initiatives, conducting evaluations of both
students and teachers, preparing self-assessment reports (SARs) and overseeing the accreditation process.
Additionally, the QEC organizes various other activities aimed at improving the quality of education for both
staff and students.
