The University of Kotli Azad Jammu and Kashmir, a beacon of enlightenment and learning, has achieved remarkable milestones during its transformative journey. Beginning as the Faculty of Administrative Sciences in 1980, it rose to become the University of Management Sciences and Information Technology, Kotli, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, later giving it a new identity as the University of Kotli Azad Jammu & Kashmir. This enthralling journey epitomizes growth, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire seekers of knowledge.
The University currently comprises four faculties: Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities and Faculty of Computing and Engineering. To gauge the quality of education, we invited the relevant accreditation councils to accredit our programs including Computer Sciences and Information Technology, Software Engineering, Business Administration, Education and Law. Our Quality Enhancement Cell has diligently completed the Self Post Graduate Program Review and Self Institutional Performance Review. Recently, QEC have also successfully conducted a Self Assessment Review of all four faculties, reinforcing our commitment to excellence in education. We are pleased to share that most of the programs have been either accredited or are under process. Moreover, the process of obtaining NOCs has been initiated for all other programs that fulfill the HEC's prescribed criteria. Our commitment to meeting the rigorous standards set by the HEC ensures the quality and credibility of our academic offerings.
E-library and digital content are a top priority for the university and our the Central Library is fulfilling this purpose well, providing scholars with a vast collection of 48,778 books from diverse fields and access to 29 national and 39 international multidisciplinary research journals. The completion of library automation is on the horizon, Moreover, students and researchers benefit from the HEC digital Library, granting valuable online full-text access to scholarly resources. Furthermore, University introduces a cutting-edge 146 MB high-speed internet facility, a virtual gateway to endless knowledge and innovation.
The university is committed to instilling an entrepreneurial mindset in its students, actively providing a wide array of diverse programs and events, notably the Entrepreneurship Gala and workshops focused on food preservation and agriculture-based entrepreneurship, which stand out as exemplary initiatives aimed at leveraging local resources and stimulating the development of innovative business ideas. Moreover, the university places significant emphasis on nurturing the holistic development of its students, fostering both character and physical well-being by actively encouraging a diverse range of co-curricular and extracurricular activities through various student societies and invited speakers. In addition to academics and community engagement, the university promotes active participation in sports and maintains a dynamic sports environment with ongoing athletic activities. Our students proudly showcase their athletic prowess not only in Inter-Departmental tournaments and Interfaculty Sports Gala but also at regional and national levels, participating in Intervarsity championships with great pride.
