On October 27th, the University of Kotli Azad Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with YFK-International Kashmir Lobby Group (Youth forum for Kashmir), hosted a seminar on "Kashmir Invasion 1947: A Black Day in History" to commemorate Kashmir Black Day with the purpose to shed light on historical significance of this day and ongoing struggle of Kashmiri prople.
Distinguished keynote speakers, including Ambassador Naela Chauhan, Mr. Zaman Bajwa, Executive Director of YFK, Ms. Reema Shaukat, Communication Strategist at Institute of Regional Studies (IRS), Barrister Sundus Malik, Geopolitical Analyst, Ms. Maryam Mastoor, Research Analyst at IRS & Ms. Maryum Tamoor, Assistant Research Associate at Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) shared their insights about significance of the day, the current hardships faced by Kashmiris, legal aspects, and strategy to amplify the Kashmiri voices on international stage. On this occasion professor Dr Ghulam Nabi Deen faculty of computing and engineering who is native from Jammu and Kashmir he referred United Nation resolutions which has been passed on in the by the unity Nation and its security council that kashmiri's would be given right of self determination which is still pending with United Nations. He further stressed the need on Kashmiri's living in United Kingdom, that they should complete this unfinishwd agenda by playing its role in the United Nation to remind Indian government that honour pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who pleged Kashmiri's to give them liberty to choose their fate. He applauded their all time support of Pakistan government and people with Kashmiris.
Commemorating Kashmir Black Day: UOKAJK Hosts Seminar and Protest
During the address, Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rahmat Ali Khan, welcomed the participants and emphasized the need for international intervention, urging United Nations and other international players to take immediate action and force India to strictly follow the UN resolutions and put an end to inhumane treatment of Kashmiri people. The seminar also featured an interactive question answer session where students engaged with speakers seeking answers to their pressing questions.
Following the seminar, a condemnation protest was organized which commenced from Public Administration Block and concluded at Raheel Shaheed Monument at which participants holding placards voiced their opposition to the ongoing Indian brutalities in Kashmir.
