Kashmir dispute is an unfinished agenda of partition and one of the oldest disputes in the United Nations Security Council. Kashmiris are not only against usurpation, but they have endured the worst and longest lock-down in human history, yet they have not given up their right of self-determination, we are observing this day for the past 32 years not only to support their right of self-determination but also to pay tribute to the sacrifices they have to make every day against the atrocities of the Indian Army, these views were expressed by the Vice Chancellor, University of Kotli Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Prof. Dr. Rahmat Ali Khan, while addressing a seminar on Kashmir Solidarity Day at the multipurpose hall of the University.
Talking about the historical context, he further said Pakhtuns and Kashmiris have an eternal relationship, we will continue to support our Kashmiris brothers morally, legally and in every way and I also pray to Allah to help Kashmiris and give them the blessing of freedom.
The aim of the seminar was to provide awareness to the youth along with solidarity and to make them aware of their role regarding the Kashmir issue. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rahmat Ali Khan was the chief guest and was attended by Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Sajid, Director Advanced Studies & Research, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahroof Khan, Treasurer, Prof Dr. Fahim Ghazanfar, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Nabi, Dean Faculty of Computing & Engineering, Dr. Muhammad Irshad, Dean Faculty of Basic & Applied Sciences, Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, Registrar, Mr. Naeem Akhter, Assistant Commissioner Kotli, faculty members, administrative staff and students.
Prof. Dr. Ghulam Nabi, Dean Computing and Engineering who hailed from Occupied Kashmir, informed the audience about Indian atrocities and Kashmiris' struggle for freedom, He also suggested the establishment of a Kashmir desk in the University for better representation of the Kashmir issue.
Other speakers including Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Sajid, Dr. Makhdoom Ali Syed, Dr. Imrab Shaheen, Mr. Naeem Akhtar, Mr. Umar Farooq, Mr. Abdul Qayyum and Mr. Ahmad Raza Lone discussed in detail the historical context, current situation, legal aspects, different ideologies, contemporary demands, geo-political situation and global scenario of Kashmir issue.
Earlier to this, a solidarity walk was organized from Sciences Block to Public administration building of the University. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Rahmat Ali Khan led the walk other participants were Deans, Directors, Principal officers, Head of all Departments, faculty members, administrative staff, and the students. The participants carried placards condemning India's state terrorism, praising Kashmiris' right to self-determination, during the whole way students kept shouting slogans in favor of Kashmiris and against Indian oppression.
