It is undeniable truth that Islam is complete code of life. It covers all aspects of life, gives solutions to our problems, inner peace, tranquility lies in following the true teachings of Islam. It is also true that many misconceptions have been raised about Islam all over the world, even in Islamic societies; religious differences and intolerance are on rise. It is dire need of the time to focus on Islamic learning and teaching in a simple and systematic way. Taking these facts into consideration, Department of Islamic Studies was established in 2019 at UoK. The department offers Bachelor and Master level Programs in Islamic Studies. In future, the department of Islamic Studies intends to launch different specialization programs at MS and PhD levels. Furthermore, the department aims at conducting seminars, workshops, conferences, short term courses, training and motivational activities for Imams of Masjid, students, teachers, lawyers, journalists, business man etc.
Objectives
- To prepare competent Islamic Scholars who are expected to be well versed in basic Islamic Studies, role model in character for other disciplines of university and play their effective role in education of Islam in society.
- To familiarize the students with contemporary ideologies and challenges posed to Muslim World and enable them to address all challenges and threats in a logical, systematic and rational way.
- To equip graduates with modern techniques of Dawah that would help them to propagate the message of Islam effectively avoiding extremism and intolerance.
- Eligibility Criteria for BS Islamic Studies shall be as per UOAJ&K rules.
