The Directorate of Advanced Studies and Research (DASR) was established on 11th of August 2014. The responsibilities of the Directorate are to

• Regulate M. Phil and Ph.D programmes.
• Facilitate teaching department in arranging the co-curricular activities like trainings, seminars, conferences, workshops and look after matters related to scholarships.

The research section looks after the matters related to the promotion of research activities. There is a board of advanced studies and research established for this particular purpose. It has been established to review all matters connected with the promotion of advanced studies and research in order to bring the University at the forefront of innovative research. The Board of advanced studies and research has following functions.

• Advice the authorities on all matters connected with the promotion of advanced studies and research in order to bring the University at the forefront of innovative research.
• Consider and report to the Authorities on the institutions of research degrees in the University.
• Propose regulations for the award of Research Degree.
• Appointment of supervisors for postgraduate research students and approve titles and synopses of their thesis/dissertations.
• Recommend panels of examiners for evaluation of Thesis and other research examinations after considering the proposal of Board of Studies in this behalf.
• Perform such other functions as may be prescribed by the statutes.

The research proposals and theses submitted by the M.Phil and Ph.D scholars, faculty research projects, rules and regulations for higher studies etc are presented before the Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR).
