Introduction 

Welcome to the Department of English at the University of Kotli.  11 full-time & Contractual dynamic and Learned faculty members are committed to offering students a broad foundation in traditional British, American, and Anglophone literary studies, as well as intensive coursework in interdisciplinary studies, emerging fields in Linguistics, and current critical methodology The Department of English offers 04 years BS Honors in English, 02 Years Master in English Language and Literature and M.Phil. in English.  The English Department at UoK promotes intellectual curiosity, analytical inquiry, and creative thinking about the rich variety of fields in our discipline. Building on the passion our students bring, the Department’s faculty encourages the formation of new knowledge through careful examination of both real and imagined worlds.   There is no better place to learn the art of communication, a skill that informs nearly every profession from teaching literature to computer programming. Our smaller class sizes allow individual attention from professors who have published acclaimed books and won awards including the Fulbright.

Our Vision

Our Aim is to explore the craft of poetry, English drama, science fiction, and techniques of horror films, the dynamics of novels, plays, short stories and creative non-fiction. Moreover, we also focus to explore the unexplored areas in Linguistics.

Master in English Language and Literature

The Department of English UoK offers 02 years Master in English Language and Literature. This program tends to include professional writing courses, like expository or critical writing, in lieu of the foreign language requirements found in Master program. The Master in English Language and Literature offers the knowledge and understanding, research materials and opportunities, and the skills and techniques, for undertaking that study. We aim to broaden students’ experience of the literature produced in the British Isles and related areas across nearly a millennium. We also offer unrivalled training in the core skills for research in linguistic studies. These include reading, understanding and editing, developing skills in English and debating a wide range of approaches and methods in the study of medieval literature and culture.

BS Honors in English

The Department of English UoK offers 04 years Bachelor of Science in English program tends to include professional writing courses, like expository or critical writing, in lieu of the foreign language requirements found in a Bachelor of Arts program. The program is designed to develop students’ linguistic knowledge, literary skills, and promote awareness about the famous Literary Figures of English Literature. The Course of BS English is also designed to promote cultural, social awareness in Students. Moreover, the course also aims to produce good language and Literature Teachers. Students who obtain a Bachelor of Science in English can enter career fields that range from education and business to advertising and public service. M.Phil. in English Program
